Jonathan Starling, American born, American - Italian Artist.

   J. Starling Photography began over 25 years ago as a dream.  Since then, that dream has given way to the creation, and appreciation of beauty.  Jonathan has devoted his life to creating and perfecting photography through hard work and education.  An artist who is a lifelong learner, has gained experience during his development.  His creative vision allows him to see the world differently and his technical abilities allow him to share that vision.

Jonathan began his fascination with photography when he was given a camera in the first grade.  He has seen many changes in photography from film to digital.  Jonathan was a pioneer in the use of digital capture and image manipulation. His studio was one of the first in the United States to switch to digital imaging.

Jonathan is best known for his award winning images of families and children.  His style is traditional portraiture in beautiful or interesting locations.  Most of his portraits are made with natural light.  The digital age has allowed him to now have smaller portable lighting so that a studio can be set up anywhere.  He is a master of lighting and creating moods.  This is only achieved by a select number of artists whose passion is the striving for perfection.  His good taste, style and commitment to art, are combined to make him one of the leading photographers in the state.

He is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and has earned the “Craftsman of Photography” degree.  Jonathan teaches photography at Fayetteville Technical Community College and also private classes on his own.  He teaches at both the professional level and on the amateur level.     His work can be seen in homes and businesses, in publications, or in gallery displays around the world.  Jonathan is a frequent traveler to Europe and especially to Italy.  He is designing courses that take Americans to Italy for a week of photography workshops and cultural exchanges.  Click here to learn about photographic safari’s.
