How do I get started?

    Here’s how the process normally works.  First either call me at 910-323-9455 or send me a form from this site (below).  Next, I will be in touch with you and work out all of the details like time, place, who is going to be photographed, where you intend to put the portraits, clothing, style and many more bits of information that will help me to create your portrait.  Everything is custom designed for you so little details must be worked out in advance.  A retainer is paid to put you on the schedule.

    Next we actually do the fun part.  Create the portraits.  I don’t go with a predetermined number of shots or even a shot card.  I create portraits based on conditions, clothing, placement of subjects etc.  During a successful shoot an energy develops and the ideas come to life.

    Next I prepare the images for you to view.  I weed out the closed eyes and the ones that just don’t meet my standards.  I will arrange a time to sit with you and project your images so that you can see expressions and sizes.  There is no better way to see your images and understand what they will look like until you see them at the final size.  I will also be on hand to explain ideas for retouching, print finishing and framing and display.  This is part of my service to you.  I can show you creative ways to enjoy your portraits in wall groupings, albums, or wall size portraits.  A deposit of one half of your order is paid at this time.

    After you place your order I begin working on each image.  This work is done by hand before the final printing.  If you have ordered a painted image a “photographic presentation proof is prepared for your final inspection and approval.  Once approved the canvas print is created.  Your portraits are printed to my exact specifications.  Mounted on an archival substrate and coated to protect the image from UV, fingerprints and dust.  If you have ordered custom framing the final print is placed into your frame ready for delivery and installation.

    I will assist you with the installation the images if you so desire.  Final payment is due upon delivery.

What forms of payment do you accept?

    I accept cash, check, Visa and Master-Card.

How much do your portraits cost?

    Every portrait session is customized to the individual.  Pricing is difficult to give in a general sense.  The final size and finish have a big impact on determining the price of your portraits.  Discounts are generally given for multiple orders of the same image.  I will be glad to quote you a price when we discuss the portrait session.

Do you photograph pets?

    I love animals and think they should be included in family portraits, children’s portraits, and portraits of just themselves.  Providing your pet is, well behaved and non-aggressive, I will be glad to include it in your portraits for no additional charge.

What other services do you provide?

    I provide my clients with invitations, greeting cards, custom framing, black and white or other toned images, canvas prints, painted portraits, restoration of old photographs and albums.

How early do I need to book you for my wedding?

   I only accept a limited number of weddings per year.  You should book your wedding photographer at least six months to a year in advance.
